Hi, blogger

Today left me questioning a few things. One point is the program costs are now up my $5,200.00 if I want ASU credit for the study abroad. I do. In order to complete my 6 internship credits, which I can accomplish by doing a creative project, I need to enroll as a full time ASU studnet abroad. So the purpose to earn 6+ credits will add $5,200.00 to total cost. $29,000.00 + $5,200.00= $34,200.00. It raised my need to $34,200.00-$19,000.00=$15,200.00. Time to reach further. There is money out there. There are people who are willing to give. We need to reach them! I have been judiciously hitting the scholarhip market lately. There is promise. Firstly in my department at Arizona State University. Speaking with the director of Global Studies Scholarships. It looks promissing that I will recieve a SGS intership scholarship! YES! $500.00 or more. That is a great promise. Lets keep our fingers crossed on that one people. Also, I have two more scholarhip dealines approaching. First an ASU $1500.00 undergradute research scholarhip. The Wu scholarhip is not an opportunity to pass. Second, a $8000.00 undegraduate study abroad grant. The Gilman Scholarhip is a big one I have a 39% chance of receing it (based on last years stats). Wish me luck on writing those essays. :). Looking around, I need to remember to not try to do everything in one day. No compounding! I need your help Fundraising team. What can you give?

Thank you very much

Jonathan

Ps.

Listening to Steve Aoki helps me think lately. This is definately an airplane chronicle.
Keep it professional.

Budget Details

Hello, Blogger

Sense you're following me I will give you details about our journey. Here are the budgetary constraints we are up against. $28,000.00 is the total cost. Don't let that scare you. ASU is giving me $19,000.00 in federal aid. That means loans and $5,300.00 in pell-grant. Scary huh? That leaves $9,000.00 uncovered. That is our goal. To raise $9,000.00. It is an ambitious goal. We can make it! An important note I want to make is that any more than $9,000.00 will mitiage my indebtness, a great goal to have in mind. Considering that I also have another semester ASU after I finish my one year abroad. Let's shoot for $9,000.00 keep in mind thought that we want to get beyond that. So shoot for the starts team. Lets make our movie!

What question you may have e-mail us at jonathan.schaller@asu.edu

Purpose of Blog

Hello, Blogger

The purpose of my blog is to inform you and allow you to follow my on going study of global warming and the media. It is also here to aid fundraising. I am a student and lack financial resources. Federal loans and pell-grants cover my school costs. I get by with work study. Non of that stops me. It only makes me work harder. Now, I have reached a critical moment. In order for me and my team to get our film project in production we will need money. So I created this blog to allow interested parties to follow the projects progress and make donations. Give what you can. It will come back to you.

Project Abstract: Descibes My Ongoing Study

My study is on the Global Media and global warming-climate change. My research has brought me to look at both sides of the global warming and climate change debate. I look at known liberal news sources and how those news journals portray climate change. I look at known conservative news sources and how those news journals portray global warming. Data poses the question, how is the media shaping the public's view on the importance of the environment vs. the importance of the economy. The liberal media is over generalizing global warming into the broad term climate change. The conservative media is highly critical of that. It is calling for scientific data to prove global warming is on going. Climate change is no longer an issue of contest. However, my research will prove that liberal media sources are confusing subscribers into thinking that climate change and global warming are in fact the same issue. Climate change is a naturally occurring phenomena, however, confusing climate change with global warming could have drastic effects on the growth of the economy.
My study looks at the assumptions of the liberal and conservative media drawing from that, asks what is more important to the public, Environment or Economy. A pilot study of the American public is currently on going. It has shown that the concern for the environment is in decline. My pilot study has shown that the media has influence over public opinion in American. What is true for Paris? Paris is the hegemony of Western Europe, which makes it a city of global importance. Globally important cities, such as Paris, will provide an answer to a global issue such as global warming-climate change. Paris, the capital of France, is the center of influence in the European Union’s Policy. Using interview research, I will ask, what is more important to Parisians, the environment or the economy? Hypothesis: like the Americans in a global economic crisis, the Parisians will see the economy as more important than the environment. Null: Parisians will not see the economy as more important than the environment. The project will be recorded onto film then edited into a full-length documentary. A book will not accompany it.
